With its roots dating back to World War II, today's Wrangler maintains a classic design but includes modern technology features. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Wrangler comes in two- and four-door body styles, with the four-door style known as the Wrangler Unlimited. It comes in five trims: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon 392. The Wrangler comes standard with a soft-top roof, but you can opt for a hardtop.
Engine (Power)
For the 2021 model year, Jeep added a new Hemi V-8 engine, bringing the total number of engines to four. Its base 3.6-liter V-6 comes with a six-speed manual transmission, but all models can have the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-door Wranglers can have a 3.0-liter V-6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 6.4-liter V-8 engine is found on the Rubicon 392. All Wranglers come with four-wheel drive.
Performance
Regarding the Wrangler's gas mileage, the SUV gets about average numbers. Models with the base engine get an estimated 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. With the turbo-four under the hood, the Wrangler gets 22 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Models with the diesel engine experience improved mileage with 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Wranglers with the V-8 engine have the least fuel-efficient models, with 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.
When properly equipped, the two-door Wrangler can tow up to 2,000 pounds. The four-door models can tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds.
Interior
In both the two- and four-door configuration, the Wrangler offers ample headroom for all travelers. The front seats are plush and supportive, while the four-door models give you easier access to the rear seats and additional legroom compared to the two-door models.
You might be surprised with the technology offerings inside the Wrangler; after all, this off-roading vehicle has more than just a powerful presence. Its Uconnect infotainment system comes standard with a responsive 5-inch touch-screen display. You can also access the climate and audio functions via physical knobs on the dashboard. As an added benefit, all the controls are water-resistant, so you don't need to worry if you get caught in the rain with the top off. Available upgrades include a 7- and 8.4-inch touch-screen display, HD and satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Safety Features
Although the 2021 Jeep Wrangler only comes standard with a rearview camera, it offers several available safety upgrades. Some of these features include forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Jeep also added a forward-facing off-road camera for the 2021 Wranglers.
